Physical Education
We are a school where physical activity is important. We carefully schedule two PE lessons each week for children in Yr 1-6 and one lesson for Reception children. Reception children also have constant access to the outdoor area where physical development opportunities are planned for daily, both to improve and refine gross and fine motor skills.
In Years 1-6, children will have x1 indoor lesson, such as dance, gymnastics or multi skills and also x1 outdoor lesson such as hockey, tennis, football, athletics and netball. This year, Year 4, 5 and 6 have had the opportunity to swim at Stanground Academy too.
We comply with CCC guidance ('Note 42') on health and safety and ask that all mid to long hair (boys and girls) is tied back and that earrings are removed. We do not tape earrings as this offers little protection from injury.
All of our teachers are able to teach PE but we also supplement this with the use of skilled coaches from the Youth Dreams Project to further enhance our teachers’ skills. This means that our children receive good quality provision.

We provide opportunities for our children to become involved in competitive inter- schools competitions, such as Partnership days organised through Hunts Sports School Partnership including events such as football, gymnastics, multi-skills and more. We have additional tournaments and competitive events held by YDP which we attend within the year.
